Best Western Introduces New Cleaning Technologies For Hotels

Written by: Virginia Agosto

May 2014 marks two-year anniversary since Best Western introduced a new and on-going project known as ‘I Care Clean’.  Best Western continue their dedication to lead the hospitality industry in customer care, and this program brings advanced cleaning technologies such as UV wands and black lights that are used in hospitals.

BEST WESTERN PREMIER Eden Resort & Suites continues with their efforts to exceed customer expectations in an entirely new way as far as housekeeping. They have been using the following sophisticated tools to ensure superior cleanliness and safety:

  • Ultra violet (UV) sterilization wands to sterilize “high touch points” in the hotel, such as telephones, clocks, light switches, door handles, bathroom fixtures and common areas
  • UV inspection black lights to detect any biological matter, food particles, and more, not visible to the human eye
  • Unique, seamless remote controls designed specifically to make it easy to clean and disinfect before new guests stay
  • Pillows, blankets and towels wraps for single use that are 100% recyclable and biodegradable

“A clean hotel is a basic expectation for guests and rightly so,” said Ron Pohl, Best Western senior vice president brand management & member services. “We are unlocking the potential of the housekeeping profession by providing new tools and training to help ensure customer satisfaction, loyalty and ultimately trust. We believe this program will help us do just that. This program is our way of re-engineering housekeeping efforts to provide superior customer care to each and every one of our guests night in and night out.”

The initiative was born out of desire and effort to give customers exactly what they wanted – and it turned out that the number one priority for guests is a clean and well-maintained hotel – surpassing customer service.

One more aspect of housekeeping seems to hold importance to hotel guests, and that’s the timing of it. So, as part of their efforts to excel at service they provide and meet unique needs of their guests, Best Western is also exploring a “collaborative service” program. This initiative allows guests to choose the time they want their rooms cleaned (morning or afternoon) and the level of service.

Research has proven that what greatly appeals to guests is thorough cleanliness of rooms and common areas, followed by having housekeeping options so guests don’t feel inconvenienced – and that’s exactly what’s extremely important to BEST WESTERN PREMIER Eden Resort & Suites.
