Sometimes you don't always think of having breakfast, lunch or dinner at a hotel restaurant. That is, unless you are staying there.
Arthur's Terrace at Best Western Premiere Eden Resort Lancaster is indeed a restaurant in a hotel. But even if you are local, there are plenty of reasons to visit Arthur's Terrace.
For one, there is that fun energy of a resort. It gives you the sense that you are traveling, maybe on a great adventure to a new place.
The hotel lobby is relaxing and beautifully appointed, the perfect introduction to the equally tranquil and soothing restaurant.
The neutral color scheme of Arthur's Terrace features brown, tan and cream-striped seating, carpet patterned in earth tones and soft lighting. It's called a terrace for a reason: There are two levels that flow into each other, and overlook the sunlit courtyard where weddings, dinners and other events are held.
As peaceful at Arthur's Terrace can be on a weekday morning or afternoon, there are two times when things get pretty exciting. One is the Sunday brunch, which often wins readership awards for the best breakfast buffet in Lancaster County. The other is the prime rib buffet on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.
That's when things heat up at Arthur's.
The Champagne Sunday Brunch features a bit of the bubbly, and much more. Tables are laden with dishes like eggs Benedict, made-to-order omelets, French toast, pancakes, waffles, fresh fruit and Danish. And that only covers the breakfast items. There are also seafood entrees, smoked salmon, chicken dishes, made-to-order pasta, a meat carving station, cheeses, salads, desserts such as cheesecake and chocolate truffle torte, and mimosas.
The Prime Rib Buffet gets a lot of attention too, with its tender, juicy carved prime rib, seafood, chicken, potatoes, vegetables, crab bisque, salad bar and sweet treats that include fruit tarts, cherry pie and chocolate mousse.
In fact, buffets are the big draw at Arthur's Terrace. There is a weekday breakfast buffet with eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, fruit and more. Many guests at the resort enjoy the weekday buffet before they set off to tour the county. There is also a weekday lunch buffet with salad bar, seafood salads, pasta salads, entrees like chicken Cordon Bleu and penne marinara, breads, soups and desserts.
For all of the buffets -- including the Champagne Sunday Brunch, Prime Rib Buffet, breakfast and lunch buffets--- the selection varies. The popular crab bisque is almost always there, along with a huge array of desserts such as creamy rice pudding, coconut cake and decorated cupcakes.
You can also order from the menu, with breakfast a la carte items that include Belgian waffles with fresh berries, a Western omelet and the Arthur's Combo with two eggs, meat and pancakes. Lunch menu items include Cobb salad, chicken Caesar salad, chicken salad croissant, turkey Devonshire and Philly cheesesteak.
Not into prime rib? You can skip the buffet and order from the dinner menu, with entrees that include jumbo stuffed shrimp with lump crabmeat, raspberry salmon, crabcakes, New York strip steak, pan seared scallops and chicken Parmesan.
Buffet or menu, really hungry or looking for something light, Arthur's Terrace has plenty of choices, no matter how how far you had to travel to get there.
